Memo+ update v.1.30

1.30 Memo+ version introduces a new revision strategy, a countdown test. Oftentimes, as you revise for an examination you are aware that your answering time will be strictly limited, and you will need to deliver your answers fast due to the scope of the exam and the time available. This mode is aimed at simulating such circumstances and giving you the chance to practice your ability to deliver. Each question card has a defined answer time. When you are given a question, the app counts down the assigned time, waiting for you to answer. If the user does not fit into this time limit, another question is asked automatically. The statistics on the entire last test taken are visible in the card set details. The answer time may be changed and set individually for each question (in case some questions need longer answering time than others). The countdown mode is more demanding and more motivating in terms of results.

Due to the minimal interest taken in the server profiles option we have decided to give it up in the 1.30 version, especially since the set import via Dropbox has been enjoying much more popularity.

Memo+ update v.1.20

1.20 version has two new features. From now on, iOS 6.0+ users can turn on synchronization with the server profile at any time. At all three levels (groups, sets and questions) there is "pull-to-sync" function which enables you to update all the data on request, throughout the app.
We've also introduced a stop watch which measures your answering time. Additionally, the app calculates the average answering time for each question and shows it in the question card details. If you do not want to use the stop watch function, or the sound effect which have also been added for more fun, you can turn them off in the full Memo+ version in the app settings.
A minor error related to the synchronization with the server profile, present in the previous version, has been corrected.

ENJOY YOUR STUDY TIME! :-)

Memo+ update v.1.18

Several enhancements have been introduced in version 1.18 today. Most of them are available in full version of Memo+.

First of all, they include the option to export a question set to a CSV file to a Dropbox folder. This allows the user to make a backup copy of their own sets. The export does not include the learning results. In effect, the exported file may be shared with other users. The option is available in the bottom toolbox on the question cards' list as well as in the details of a question set.

Another change is the introduced preview of the content of given question and answer cards, which may be scrolled upwards and downwards. As a result the user is equipped with a new, convenient way of viewing questions and answers, revising and learning. To use this option, pick any question card from the card list and scroll it upwards or downwards to view the previous and the following cards.

It is also possible now to switch lists to the edit mode, by holding your finger for a longer time on the selected item. This feature is related to all 3 levels: groups list, question sets list and question cards list.

Also, you can change the font size in the exported PDF file, allowing you to control the number of questions and answers which can fit into one page of a generated PDF file. This option is available in the full Memo+ version in the "settings" screen.

A whole range of changes related to the profile registration on memoplus.pl server has been added. From now on the server profile and its synchronization are optional. A created profile may be disconnected to switch off the synchronization with the server or even delete the profile form the server entirely. On the other hand, a user is now able to to create up to 5 profiles on the server and switching from one to another. The access to the options for logging in to the existing profiles, disconnecting from the profiles on the server, creating new profiles and editing data in a given profile is possible form the application's "settings" screen.

Memo+ update v.1.13

An update of Memo+ has just been released in AppStore. The major functionality has been added:Dropbox

  • the possibility to transfer a whole question card set from one group to another
  • integration of Memo+ with Dropbox for importing a question list in the form of a CSV file to the application

Additionally, some minor changes enhancing the usability of some functions have been implemented.

The function of transferring a set form one group to another is now available in two places: on the set list after you have entered the "Edition" mode (by clicking the "Edition" button in the top right corner) and then selecting one or more sets to be transferred. The other location is a button on the screen presenting set details (click "Disclosure" button).
The function integrating Memo+ with Dropbox allows you to download any content stored in any table-like editor into Memo+. We aimed at Excel tables, however, due to some Excel constraints concerning the saving of a CSF file coded with UTF-8, Google Docs SpreadSheet proved a better tool for it.
The instruction goes as follows:

Creaate content is SpreadSheet (you can paste it form excel or some other program). The content consists of 2 columns, one of which contains questions, and the second the answer (make sure to keep this order).
Select "File"/"Download as  Comma separated values (.csv)" and save the file in Dropbox:/Apps/MemoPlus folder
In Memo+ select the import option "CSV from Dropbox", select from the list the CSV file you have just saved, and it will be downloaded in the form of question/answer cards to the current set.

NOTE: Memo+ requires "Comma Seperated Values" (CSV) file, which is a text file where one line contains the question and the answer separated by a comma (not by a semicolon which is the Excel standard). The File must be UTF-8 encoded. As long as these requirements are met, such file can be obtained in various editors, however, the SpreadSheet Google Docs. seems the simplest and, at the same time, a well- tested tool for this.
